HDPE (high-density polyethylene) socket fusion fittings are widely used in many industries such as water supply, gas, drainage, industrial transportation, etc. They are favored by the market for their corrosion resistance, reliable connection, light weight, and convenient construction. During the entire construction cycle, the transportation of HDPE socket fusion fittings is a crucial link. If the operating specifications are not strictly followed during transportation, it is very easy to cause deformation, breakage, interface pollution and other problems, which will affect the subsequent installation quality and system operation stability. Therefore, formulating a scientific and reasonable transportation plan and strictly implementing technical requirements are important prerequisites for ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.

The packaging method must be standardized
HDPE socket fusion fittings should be effectively packaged before leaving the factory. Small socket fusion fittings can be packaged and sealed in plastic bags, woven bags or cartons to avoid friction and collision during bulk transportation. Large special-shaped parts such as elbows, tees, flanges, pipe caps, etc. should be wrapped with thickened films or foam, and external cushions should be installed to protect the edges to prevent damage from bumps. All interface ports of socket hot-melt socket fusion fittings must be equipped with dustproof sealing covers to ensure that dust, sand, oil or moisture will not enter during transportation to avoid affecting the later welding performance.

Loading operations should be safe
Before loading operations, the loading plan should be reasonably designed according to the size, weight and shape of the socket fusion fittings. Rough operations should be avoided during loading, and throwing, rolling and dragging are strictly prohibited. For heavy socket fusion fittings that need to be transported by forklifts, cranes or lifting belts, flexible nylon slings or rubber slings should be used to avoid direct contact of steel wire ropes with the surface of the socket fusion fittings to prevent scratches or extrusion deformation. When loading, they should be stacked smoothly to prevent problems such as offset, tilting, and uneven stacking. socket fusion fittings of different specifications must not be mixed and should be classified and fixed to prevent dislocation or collision during transportation.

Transport vehicles should be reasonably selected
HDPE socket fusion fittings should be transported in sealed or covered transport vehicles. Anti-slip soft pads should be laid on the bottom of the vehicle to reduce the damage to the socket fusion fittings caused by vibration and friction during driving. For long-distance transportation, it is recommended to use trailers or special logistics vehicles with shock absorption functions. If necessary, foam interlayers, plastic gaskets or foam plastics should be added between socket fusion fittings to prevent deformation or cracks caused by hard contact. After loading, the pipes should be firmly tied with elastic tension bands or fixed ropes to prevent them from sliding or tilting due to sudden braking, turning or bumpy roads during transportation.

Avoid high temperature and exposure
HDPE materials are sensitive to high temperatures and ultraviolet rays. During transportation, if the pipes are exposed to strong sunlight for a long time, it is easy to cause surface aging, softening and deformation of the welded ports, etc. Therefore, the pipes should be covered with sunshade cloth or sun-proof nets during transportation, especially during the high temperature period in summer, and long-term parking in the open air environment during noon must be avoided. If a short-term open-air transfer is unavoidable, a cool area should be selected and the transfer task should be completed as soon as possible.

Prevent rainwater and pollutants from intruding
The welding interface of HDPE socket fusion fittings is extremely susceptible to pollutants such as moisture, mud, grease, etc., resulting in loose welding or leakage. Rainwater should be strictly prevented during transportation, especially in rainy seasons or coastal areas, and comprehensive waterproofing measures should be taken. This includes closed transportation using rainproof tarpaulins, plastic covers or containers with waterproof functions. If there is sudden rain during transportation, the transport personnel should immediately check the packaging status to ensure that the port sealing device is intact. If there is damage or water ingress, it should be replaced or cleaned and dried immediately after arriving at the site.

The handling operation should be standardized
After arriving at the destination, the unloading process is also crucial. When unloading, the operation sequence of "handle with care, small first then large, high first then low" should be followed to avoid deformation of the lower layer socket fusion fittings caused by extrusion and gravity concentration. For HDPE socket hot-melt socket fusion fittings with larger diameters, at least two people should cooperate or use auxiliary mechanical equipment to ensure that the port is intact. After unloading, the socket fusion fittings should be immediately transferred to the designated storage area and should not be left on the transport vehicle for a long time to prevent local overheating or deformation caused by heat conduction on the vehicle surface.
